No Sunday School on March 21!

Yesterday Pastor Pat came to our middle school Sunday class and answered some questions . . . we learned what the Bible says about a lot of stuff, and had a great time. Thanks for visiting our class, Pastor Pat!

On March 21 there will be NO Sunday school . . . there's only going to be one church service at 9:30, and then a meeting afterward, so we'll miss you guys. Stay tuned for what's happening on March 28.

February 14 - "Rules of the Realm"

It's a new week, and here's something new to start thinking about. As you probably know, we're studying Matthew in our Sunday school class. We've been talking about Jesus' Sermon on the Mount, and last week finished up with the Beatitudes. This Sunday we will be looking at Matthew 5:17-48. Try to read that section this week if you get a chance.

Here's this week's question: What kinds of rules do you have to obey at your house? What is your least favorite rule? What makes some rules so hard to accept?

February 7 - Beatitudes

Hi everybody! We're back again . . . after another long break! :) Guess what? We started a Facebook group for FPCW Middle School Youth! We'll continue to update this blog as well, but we'll also have the same information on our Facebook group. So, if you're on Facebook, look us up! Our Facebook group is a closed group for safety reasons, so make a request to join our group as we will only be accepting people we know personally.

As you probably know, we're studying the book of Matthew in Sunday School. Last week we started talking about the Beatitudes in chapter 5. This week we'll talk some more about the Beatitudes. Remember how we talked about what makes a person popular by our culture's standards? Well, many the things that Jesus talks about in Matthew 5 are exactly the opposite of what our culture would consider popular.

Here's this week's question: What are some things that make people popular at your school? Do you think these "popular" characteristics are good or bad? Why?

We're Back!

Hi everybody! Well, after taking a little break from posting anything, we're finally back. As you know, in Sunday school we've been studying the kings and prophets in the Old Testament during the time of the Divided Kingdom. Today we finished up with talking about Nehemiah and the rebuilding of the wall, even with enemies from outside (like Sanballat and Tobiah) and enemies from within (the people's - and our - own sin).

What's next? We'll spend the next two weeks reviewing and wrapping up our study on the Divided Kingdom, then after Christmas we'll come back with a brand-new study on the book of Matthew.

Here's the question for you to think about this week: Think back to our timeline . . . we've talked about Jeroboam, Elijah, Elisha, Jehu, Ahab, Joash, Ahaz, Isaiah, Hezekiah, Micah, Daniel, Ezra, and Nehemiah. What lesson from our study sticks out in your mind the most?

"A Court Summons" - Lesson 9 question

"What an Insult!" - Lesson 8 question

Oops, sorry gang . . . I totally forgot to post this until now, so most of you probably won't have a chance to look at it before tomorrow. I'll go ahead and post a question anyway to get you thinking about tomorrow's lesson.

We've all heard plenty of insults before. What do people usually attack or make fun of when they insult somebody? What kind of insults do you think hurt the most?

Tomorrow we're going to talk about how Sennacherib, the king of Assyria, insulted Judah and God. As always, you can feel free to leave a comment with your answer to the question. Here's what our Sunday School class came up with to summarize King Joash's reign in one long sentence. Check it out!

"Joash, who was age 7 when he started being a king and stopped being a king at 47 by assassination, who followed the Lord while Jehoiada the priest was living, who remodeled the temple of the Lord, who led the abandonment of the temple of the Lord, who led in serving the Asherim idols, who had Zechariah stoned with rocks, was a king of the southern kingdom Judah."
